You do not take intensified spell based on a single spell, it's a metamagic feat. Of course, you can also just go strength magus if you want, especially if you want to take advantage of polymorphing and power attack.

You cannot gain dex-to-damage with a bastard sword without some sort of class feature that takes dipping (and you don't need to/want to dip if you've got four feats at the start.) Rapier or scimitar gives you an 18-20/x2 crit range, and your crits can multiply your spell damage, plus your black blade can make itself keen for double crit range. You typically want a rapier or a scimitar (and to get weapon finesse + fencing grace, slashing grace, or dervish dance). Getting DEX-to-damage or similar things is really useful when you have only 1-2 high stats or a low point-buy, but since you get 3 stats 16 or higher right from the get-go there's really no reason to use any shenanigans like this. Hell, I assume you still get bonuses from your race so you could presumably give yourself a +2 to whatever you need as a Human/Half-Human, or use your racial bonuses to help in other ways.Īs a Magus you need 2 stats high ( attack stat and INT), and 1-2 stats mid ( CON and maybe DEX if your attack stat was STR). A stat array like S-18, D-16, C-15, I-17, W-14, C-13 would get you everything you need. The usual ways to get DEX-to-damage don't work for you because A) Slashing Grace won't work any round that you use Spell Combat, and B) Agile doesn't work with Bastard swords, and even if the GM allowed an Agile Bastard Sword you can't add Agile to a Black Blade.Īside from the difficulty getting DEX-to-hit ( and damage), why bother? With stats like that you 100% don't need to. The only way I can think of is 1 level of Swashbuckler and the Slashing Grace feat. TLDR: Don't bother with being DEX-based, it gives you no real advantage.Īs others have said, it's difficult to get DEX to attack with a Bastard Sword. /r/3d6 - For character creation, advice and sharing (system agnostic)./r/Battlemaps - For your VTT battlemap requirements./r/Tabletop - For your general tabletop gaming shenanigans./r/lfg - Looking For Group, find other players, etc./r/RPG - For general, non-Pathfinder related RPG discussion.
